Supervision and Capacity Planner
How many children a church play area can hold at one time is set by three things at once: the supervision ratio for the age band, the number of adults you can actually put in the room, and the per-room ceiling once furniture and circulation are placed. Floor area is only ever the fourth constraint. This planner shows you which of the four is binding for your room.
Your Session
Ratios used: 1 adult to 3 children under 36 months, 1 to 7 for ages 3 to 5, 1 to 15 for school age, with a floor of 2 adults in any staffed room. Per-room ceilings: 10 infants, 12 toddlers, 15 for preschool and above. A single acoustic space is capped at 15 children. The area check uses 4.6 m² of usable play area per child. These are the same planning assumptions used on the guide page, and they are not a substitute for childcare licensing rules where those apply to your programme.
